North Vietnam is marked by the contrast between the Red River Delta and the mountainous region. The uniformity of the landscape of the delta is also opposed to the variety of the landscape of the Middle and Upper Region, as well as population density. The highest peak is the Fan-si-pan (3.143m). Whereas North of the Red River some summits rise to over 1000m. Apart from Fan-si-pan, the most famous mounts include Tam Dao (1.420m) and Ba-vi (1281).
