The Perfume Pagoda is a complex of pagodas built in the mountain limestone cliffs located 60 km south-west of Ha Noi. This area is the destination for Buddhist pilgrims during Vietnamese Buddhist festival. During three months of the festival, Perfume Pagoda can receive up to 30,000 visitors per day.

 

The Perfume Pagoda was built from the third century, but like most pagodas and temples on the site were destroyed by the French colonialists when they arrived in Vietnam. The existing structures on the site now has been rebuilt several times. Highlights of the visit to the Perfume Pagoda include the boat trip on a river with beautiful scenery, a hike to the top of the mountain and in particular the heavenly atmosphere of the complex of the Perfume Pagoda.

 

You will gain admission tickets and you get on a rowing boat on the river in Yen Thien Tru Pagoda. The boat ride is 1h15 minutes and offers surreal landscapes of the countryside.

 

Disembark from the boat to Thien Tru Pagoda, you can start hiking along the trail that leads you to the top of the mountain where the Huong Tich pagoda is located. Huong Tich is a large cavern-pagoda, claimed to be the best caves in Vietnam by Lord Trinh in the 17th century. On the way up, there are many caves and pagodas normally found, you can spend a few hours visiting the pagodas on the way up.

 

Otherwise you can take a cable car that offers panoramic views of the surrounding nature of the Perfume Pagoda. It is up to you to discover.
